Richard B. Beal, Jr. served as a soldier in World War II and Korea, and as a civilian with the Central Intelligence Agency. During his career with the Central Intelligence Agency he served in Europe, Asia, including a tour in Vietnam, and Latin America. He is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University. He has published various articles on terrorism and counter-terrorism and, based on its now declassified files, on secret operations of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in World War II. 'The Cat Will Mew...' is his first work of fiction and is a product of his observations and first hand experiences in the CIA. Born in Lincolnton, North Carolina, he now lives and writes in retirement in Washington, D.C..
